All I Want For Christmas Is. . .

All I Want For Christmas Is. . . I don’t know.  Please please please, don’t think I’m sad or angry or depressed because I’m not, it’s just really really hard to come up with something Santa can get for me because there is so very little I can do.

Yes I can read and yes there are a couple Kindle Products books on my list but that’s about it.  Let’s face it, I’m sitting in this #wheelchair with extremely limited reach ability soooo, sadly, there isn’t much I can do. I can’t garden anymore which I use to love, I can’t decorate my home for the holiday which I also use to love, I can’t clean or do laundry or cook which, well, I could say I don’t miss but actually I do miss it, I can’t even take my dog for a walk, you get the picture.

Recently I started listening to the Behind The Scenes By Jeremy & Audrey Roloff podcast and finding myself  enjoying the world of podcasts.  Yesterday I listened to Episode 7: Christmas Traditions, Managing Expectations, and Our Favorite Things and realized that for the past 10+ years I’ve actually attempted to do a lot of what Jeremy & Audrey talked about as far as managing expectations and well basically indulging ourselves & our lives in tradition, the meaning of Christmas, the spirit of giving, the spirit of sharing & loving.

I’ve been guilty of getting crazy during this time of year, making sure my house was decorated “just so,” making sure the gifts were “the” gift, you know what I’m talking about right.  But, I can honestly say, that while I did go a bit overboard and did get caught up in the crazy,  I also was very much into trying to make time to “just be” just enjoy each other, and just go slower.  Now, it didn’t always work, but I tried.

As for traditions, at first when I listened to this episode I was a little sad that maybe my honey and I didn’t have any traditions.   We never made a conscious effort to create our traditions but then  true to form, my honey pointed out we do have a few traditions, like, we go into NYC and play tourist each year; we visit the Holiday Shops at Bryant Park (my fav ) every year my honey gets us a live kissing ball   which I just LOVE, the fresh smell of green reminds us when we were kids.  Chocolate covered strawberries are another tradition for us or maybe I should say for me because every year my honey spoils me with Godiva chocolate covered strawberries!

So let’s go back to “All I Want for Christmas Is…” nothing, I already have the most important things; two wonderful parents who have filled my world with total love and an amazing man by my side who continues to love me, “for now & forever.”

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with peace.

As always, I wish you days filled with wonder – take a minute to wonder what it is that made you smile today!
