WORDS AND MEANINGS

#NEW NORMAL

We are now 2 months or so with the majority of people attempting to adjust to a “new normal” life amidst #COVID19. While I understand that living a “new normal” lifestyle isn’t easy, doesn’t come naturally and surely isn’t fun, I’ve come to understand and realize that life goes on, whether we like it or not, even when this “new normal” is forced upon us. For me, my “new normal” of #living_this_paralyzed_life was forced on me at the hands of surgery gone wrong that fateful day in June 2016, nearly 4 years ago.

#50%

As some states and/or local counties within some states begin to re-open at “50%” capacity or half it’s ability of what should be; again I’m reminded that I’m now “50%” of the person I should be. Is it so terrible to be at “50%“? 🤔 Is “50%” better than nothing? Sometimes I think yes and sometimes I think no. For me, my life at “50%” is now permanent, nothing I can do to change it, for the rest of society, life at “50%” is temporary.

#SOCIAL DISTANCING

Interacting with family and friends has now been reduced to a wave 👋 from a distance or gatherings on our devices as “Social Distancing” is now required. Social Distancing Is The New Normal. . . Welcome to My World.

Maybe I should be somewhat thankful 🙏 and, truthfully, maybe I am a little, as I’m not stressing as much as many others during this #pandemic. My biggest stress factor is not being able to see my parents on the weekends. Over the last 4 years I’ve had to adjust to only being able to see them on the weekends when my honey is home and can bring me there but now that’s not possible.

During these crazy uncertain times, I encourage everyone to keep in mind perspective of the past. Recently Governor Cuomo shared this regarding perspective:

From the time I was a little girl my mother would remind me of the following:

I cried because I had no shoes, until the day I met the man with no feet.

As always, I wish you days filled with WONDER – take a minute to WONDER what it is that made you smile today!
