When My Health Affects His

STRESS, 😬it’s there, we all have it, can’t stop it, can’t change it, but when my honey’s health is now affected because of me, well, tell me, how am I supposed to deal with that?

He loves me I know, he worries about me it’s true, he stresses over us, what can I do?

Last year he was diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease.
Meniere’s disease is an inner ear disease that typically affects one ear. This disease can cause pressure or pain in the ear, severe cases of dizziness or vertigo, hearing loss and a ringing or roaring noise, also known as tinnitus.

Triggers include, but not limited to, caffeine, sodium and the ever vengeance STRESS!

We have all but eliminated sodium from our daily diet and he has reduced his caffeine intake to 1 cup of java a day, again leaving the ugliness of STRESS!

The aide I’ve had helping me for the last 15 months will be leaving in a week which starts the daunting task of attempting to find a replacement, which for my honey equals more STRESS!

We try to put on the happy face, the normal face, the all is fine face but it isn’t easy. In the past year and a half my honey has been rushed to the ER by ambulance from his office, has had several severe bouts of vertigo & nausea which has kept him up for several hours at night and just last week while at work he had such a bad attack his co-workers called a car service to drive him home after yet another horrible attack due to STRESS over trying to find a replacement aide.

#Living_This_Paralyzed_Life for the last 2.5 years has put an overwhelming amount of STRESS on us, both individually and together as a couple. #Paralysis doesn’t just affect the #paralyzed individual, it affects the entire family.

My parents are elderly and of course I want to do as much as possible to help them, so, that means my honey helps with yard work, minor repairs, seasonal tasks, errands to pick-up medications and/or groceries, etc.

As always, I wish you days filled with wonder ā€“ take a minute to wonder what it is that made you smile today!

  1. Thanks for sharing. It was a very good read. It sounds like you guys are a great team.

Remember, you can only get stronger (mentally/physically/spiritually,etc..) breaking through adversity.

  2. I understand what stress can do to a person and a family. The stress will always be there, do you think if he can speak to someone it would help reduce his reaction to the stress. Knowing him he will never speak to you or any family member about it as he tries so hard to be strong with all of you. But we all need someone we donā€™t have to wear a mask in front of. I donā€™t know how any of your cousins can help. If there is a way please let us know. It was easier to have a meal come your way once in awhile but now living a ways from you, we canā€™t order take out for you both because of the sodium. That was the only way I knew. You two continue to love each other through the roughest of times, it takes time to adjust to the life situation of change but you both will make it. Try to exercise those legs, never give up. No one knows for sure if you will regain the ability to walk. Nerves take years to regenerate. Only the man above knows for sure. God Bless and be strong
