Have you noticed a few less blog posts from me lately? Me too, but I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe there’s just too much going on all around, maybe I’m just not able to focus, maybe I’m just at a loss. Then today, while watching our NY Governor give his daily briefing today the words #change, #changed and #changing struck me and I began thinking about those words.
Today, June 9, 2020:
- Day 101 of #COVID19 🦠 in #NY
- Day 16 of our country’s #social_crisis over the death of an individual
- Day 1,445 of me being forced to live my life in a #wheelchair ♿
Together we all watched as COVID-19 started spreading, together we all watched as an individual layed on the ground unable to breath and ultimately passed away and alone I became #paralyzed. Change happens.
We were told to change, wear masks 😷 wash our hands 🧼 and #social_distancing with no large crowds 🚫🏟, this will reduce the spread. We changed our lifestyle and behaviors to what is now our new normal.
We were told change needs to take place in certain law enforcement agencies in the manor in which they interact with the public. Agencies are now discussing ways of changing their procedures.
Two things hit me hard today while listening to the Governor; 1) the words CHANGE, CHANGED & CHANGING and 2) the number of days so many lives in our state and country have been turned upside down and yes many CHANGED forever but with CHANGING behavior and policies this can and will improve, the crisis of today won’t last forever; I wish I could say the same for me, there is no change for me, life in this wheelchair is for the rest of my life.
As always, I wish you days filled with WONDER take a minute to WONDER what it is that made you smile 😃 today!
