1,095 days since. . .

June 21, 2016 marked the beginning of the end in many ways. That fateful day set me and my family on a journey none of us were prepared for or expected.

What is an “anniversary”?

By definition by Merriam-Webster, an anniversary is
1: the annual recurrence of a date marking a notable event // a wedding anniversary broadly a date that follows such an event by a specified period of time measured in units other than years // the 6-month anniversary of the accident 2: the celebration of an anniversary definition from: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anniversary
I promise you, for me, June 21st is NO ANNIVERSARY I care to remember, yet, I’ve had no choice but to remember that fateful day for the last 1,095 days. You see, for the last 1,095 days I’ve:
  • not walked hand-in-hand with my man –
  • not been able to meet friends and family for lunch – why, because I was left #paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to take my Mother out for Mother/Daughter time – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to take my aging parents to much needed doctor appointments – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to buy holiday cards and/or gifts from a store – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to go into a salon to have my hair done – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to cook dinner – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to take a shower on my own – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to take my dog to the vet or groomer – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to do my own laundry – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able to dust or vacuum my home – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
  • not been able t to decorate for holidays or seasonal – why, because I was left paralyzed after hip surgery
All because I’m a person of short stature who was left paralyzed after hip surgery. Unable to reach anything farther than 6″ in front of me, I now sit and count the days, 1,095 days and counting.
